A Virginia politician just made history Tuesday night. Danica Roem, 32, is now the first openly transgender person to be elected to a state legislature in the United States. Roem won a seat in the Virginia House of Delegates defeating Republican incumbent Robert Marshall. Marshall is an ultra-conservative who was in office for more than 20 years.
